Standard petrol engines until a point in 1992 used carburretors, then due to legislation, single point fuel injection. GT engines used a Solex Z2 Carburretor and in 1992 a certain amount of GT's were single point fuel injected; having 75bhp as opposed to the carburetors 85bhp. GTi models used multi point fuel injection and produced 100bhp. GTi's were only the same speed as the GT due to the heavier engine, the gearbox ratios remained the same. Diesel engines use conventional glow plug and injector systems.
