Line 1: Line 1:
 +There are 2 brown plugs which seperate the engine loom from the interior loom.
 +
 +The largest of the two is Brown with 7 wires to it in total
 +
 +{{:axloom005.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 1 is green with a white dash marked on it near to where it meets the plug. This wire leads to the alternator and has a single clear connector at the end.
 +
 +This serves as the battery warning light which comes up on the intrument panel when battery is low/alternator is failing to provide sufficient charge. It corresponds to the green clock plug and is wire 1.
 +
 +{{:axloom012.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 2 is green with a brown dash marked on it near to the plug. This wire leads to the front of the engine block and has a single brown connector - this is the Oil low pressure sensor
 +
 +This serves as another warning light on the instrument panel and from where it goes into the interior loom goes into wire 9 on the 10 point white plug at the back of the instrument panel
 +
 +{{:axloom2012.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 3 is a thicker yellow wire with a red dash marked on it by the plug. This wire leads to the starter motor and mounts onto the smaller of the ring connectors on the starter motor.
 +
 +This leads to the yellow wire on the black plug of the ignition barrel and provides the power to the starter motors internal relay solonoid when the key is turned in the barrel, allowing the full charge through from the main battery wire.
 +
 +{{:axloom006.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 4 is a green wire with a blue dash marked on it by the main plug. This leads to the Engine coolant thermal switch which is on the passenger side of the engine. It leads to a single blue connector on the sensor
 +
 +This provides another warning light on the instrument panel, the interior loom wire eventually ending up at point 7 of the white 10 pin plug.
 +
 +{{:axloom2001.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 5 and Wire 6 are both linked and go to the reverse light switch on top of the gearbox.
 +
 +Wire 5 is green with a purple dash and gets its power from Fuse 7.
 +
 +When the reverse switch is activated Wire 6 is the return for the power which on the internal loom goes to the first wire on the 9 point brown plug to the rear of the car (eventually illuminating the reverse light)
 +
 +{{:axloom009.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 7 is Grey in colour and goes directly to the Ignition coil plug which is a 4 point brown plug on the ignition coil.
 +
 +This wire receives its power to the ignition coil when the key is turned to its second point on the barrel (this is one of the smaller grey wires which go to the Grey plug of the ignition barrel
 +
 +{{:axloom013.jpg|}}
 +
 +[color=#FF0000]Ill return back to the Ignition coil plug shortly[/color]
 +
 +The second of the main engine loom plugs is again brown in colour and has 5 points
 +
 +{{:axloom004.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 1 is green in colour and goes to point 1 of the ignition coil plug. This supplies the tachometer/rev counter reading to the instrument panel.
 +
 +Once at the instrument panel the wire goes into the 5th point of the 9 point green plug.
 +
 +{{:axloom013.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 2 and Wire 3 are both linked again.
 +
 +They both go to the oil level sensor which has a 3 point brown plug.
 +Wire 2 goes to point 1 on the oil level sensor plug
 +Wire 3 goes to point 3 of the oil level sensor plug
 +
 +These go to the Oil level control unit (small black box) behind the dash. Eventually one will lead to earth and the other will arrive at the 3rd point on the 9 point green instrument panel plug - Of course it illuminates a warning light for low oil level
 +
 +{{:axloom2006.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 4 is green with a yellow dash near to the plug. This goes to a single yellow connector on top of the thermostat housing. It is of course for the water temp sensor.
 +
 +It provides a warning light to the instrument panel, the wire corresponds to point 6 on the 10 point main white connector at the back of the instrument panel.
 +
 +{{:axloom2007.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 5 is grey with a white dash near to the plug. This leads to the underside of the carb nearest the bulk head and serves as a heater
 +
 +When it goes into the interior loom it is a strange one in that it goes to the window motor relay- from looking at the other diagrams though this does essentially get its power from the F9 fuse
 +
 +{{:axloom015.jpg|}}
 +
 +Lastly returning back to the Brown 4 point ignition plug
 +
 +{{:axloom013.jpg|}}
 +
 +Ive already covered Wire 1 (Tacho signal) and wire 3 (Grey one, power from ignition barrel)
 +
 +Wire 2 (green with purple dash) and the Green wire (white dash) at point 3 are both linked and go to a 3 wired black plug on an ignition module sensor.
 +
 +Wire 2 goes to point 3 on the black plug
 +Wire 3 goes to point 1 of the black plug
 +
 +{{:axloom2015.jpg|}}
 +
 +Wire 2 (middle of the black plug) simply goes to an earth on the gearbox
 +
 +{{:axloom014.jpg|}}
 +
 +The last wire on the ignition coil plug comes from Point 4 and goes via the HT coil suppressor essentially leading to an earth
 +
 +{{:axloom003.jpg|}}
