Re: AX rev counter

Just the motor and PCB enough? I have a few spares somewhere, but am missing the face plates.

Re: Rear beam AX vs. Saxo VTS/106 Rallye/GTI

4 stud drum beams are slightly wider than 3 stud beams, how much so depending on which drums you have. Other than that, the disk beam is again wider than any of the drum beams. I'd have to look up the exact numbers, but as an estimate, I'd say 3-->4 is about a cm per side, and 4--> disk another cm.

Re: Any mk1's being broken

it will and it won't, it'll bolt to the axle just fine, however the MK1 AX had 4x M10x1 thread and the Saxo/106 ones have 2x M10x1 and 2xM12x1 thread, requiring replacement of 2 brake lines (from the MC to the valve, and then from the valve to the right rear wheels flex hose) to get the correct ends...

Re: Brake Power Regulator

You can buy them new for €100-€150-ish on various auto part sites, or look in the scrap yard.

Most you find are for the Saxo/106 though, they have M10 and M12 lines instead of all M10 like the AX. If you go with that one, you'll have to replace 2 brake lines to get M12 ends.

Re: Anyone fitted a new clutch cable to there ax?

you have to lift the pedal from the floor, then the hook where the plastic end goes over comes into view of the hole on the engine bay side.. Maybe get a bit of wood, or someone to help you..?

GT hoses are the same as any 1.0/1.1 model (also 106/saxo), should be kits for those..

Re: Anyone fitted power steering to there ax?

Its like an inline gear in the steering column that turns your rack into a quicker rack (lock to lock, yeah..), they're often 1.5:1 or 2:1, I'd probably go for the 1.5:1, so the 3.something turns stock rack turns into a 2.something turns, thats plenty short. You can get actual quicker (2.4) rack&...

Re: Anyone fitted power steering to there ax?

Inner ends.. eeh, joints. yes. Not 100% on the column, I think the saxo has 3 holes and the AX 2, so not sure if that bolts up. The rack bolts right up, not 100% sure on the pedal box, should bolt up too. By the way, I have a complete set here too, and I'm considering installing it on my track toy, ...

Re: Anyone fitted power steering to there ax?

+1 for the pedal box, the hole is a different shape (bigger, mostly) to accommodate the torque valve thing on the steering rack. Other than that, you need to wire up some 12V to the pump, and thats about it, yeah. Oh, last thing, the steering link ends are different, on an AX they're rubber bushings...

Re: AX GTI coolant pipes

The one from the thermostat housing to the heater is identical to any other AX (or saxo/106, I think) The one from the heater back to the block is different, in the sense that it doesn't have the coolant line for the heated manifold, that one is found on the AX GTI and AX Sport, as wel as the MPI Sa...

Re: 4 stud front strut legs - pls help me, I'm in Australia...

No worries. :) I hope you find someone to ship you a set, though shipping will probably be more than the price of the parts.. Sadly, I already sold my remaining set of 4 stud legs, so maybe someone else has a set ready to sell? The back calipers could be the same, they are shared by quite a few mode...

Re: 4 stud front strut legs - pls help me, I'm in Australia...

Be sure to also buy some new ball joints, the pin diameter of the ball joint on the later models (92 and newer, including all the 4 stud ones) is bigger than the earlier models (91 and older) New style ball joints should press into the old arms, as far as I know. Your shell doesn't have the mounts f...

Re: Unlocked VTR ECU and loom

Transplanting the saxo plug onto the car loom is not that hard, and adds extra functionality to the car. (IE: delete of cable drive speedo, oil temperature gauge, OBD/Lexia port), no need to replace all the AX wiring. Its about the same amount of effort as transplanting an few AX plugs onto your sax...
